We are sad to report that Vern Moldenhauer, long time member of the BPOU exec committee, finance chair and parliamentarian, stalwart at the county fair booth, died Monday.
Visitation will be Wednesday 4 to 7 at Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault and service Thursday 10:30 am Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morristown.
He leaves his wife Elaine and several nephews. Vern was a great patriot and community leader.
On a personal note, I would have liked to have shown the flag at half-staff, but I am certain that Vern would have quoted me chapter and verse
Flying a flag at half-staff or half-mast is a sign for grief and mourning. It is flown following the death of certain government officials, in times of national distress, on various holidays, and at any other time it is instructed by the president or government. There are specific instructions in the Flag Code for lowering the flag and the time frame it should be flown.
I only knew Vern a short while, but his no nonsense ways certainly made an impression on me.
